After
staring at the board for a while I narrowed it down to two
explosive players. Reggie Bush and Randy Moss. Brady
and Moss were the two top scorers in this league last year and
in this format where your best scores of the week at the
position are what count, Moss should be fueling my team all year
long. Bush had a disappointing year last year and while I
still think he's a capable back, and certainly fits what I look
for in a FAD player, I thought Moss was more of a guarantee
albeit not a RB which I know will leave me scrambling
later.

RB Reggie Bush

I almost took Bush
in the first round and am happy to grab him here. The risks are
obvious: So-so production and injuries. But, he also is a
receiving machine and, in a PPR league, he could add almost the
equivalent of a TD every week just with his catches. The
Saints also have issues at running back and if Deuce McAllister
is not healthy or if they do not sign another veteran, Bush
could have impact all-around stats.

RB Ronnie Brown

When
Ronnie Brown went down in week seven last year, he was leading
the league in fantasy scoring.
Over the first seven weeks he averaged over 24 points per
game.
The only reason he dropped to the second round is because
of his injury.
This is a risky proposition because of the injury but to
win in the FAD some chances have to be taken.

Brady is the Peyton Manning of the
early 2000's - the guy that you're going to have to pass up on
your RB2 (and in some leagues your RB1) in order to put on
your roster.
While there's no way that I expect
him to match last year's numbers, Dan Marino and Manning
followed up their record-breaking seasons with 30 and 28 TDs,
respectively. And neither of them had Randy Moss to
throw to. If Brady throws only 30 TD passes, he's worthy
of being chosen in this spot. That's his floor. If
he makes it to 35+, he should have been a mid-first rounder
and I wind up with great value from this pick. It's a
low-risk high-reward. And how often do you get to make
that pick in your league?

Being
able to get another RB that is not in a RB by committee
situation was a plus. Last season LenDale became the #1 RB for
the Titan
s and amassed a total of about 1300 yards. He was injured the
entire season yet started every game so things could be better
now that his knee is 100%.

A top-12 RB in 2007
under this format, we're happy to take Jones-Drew with this
pick. MJD had even better numbers in 2006, showing some
real upside. And let's face it - Fred Taylor isn't getting any
younger. We're expecting 1250 yards between rushing/receiving
and double digit TDs in 2008. We feel like we're getting
a possible top-10 RB in the middle round 2. Maybe God *doesn't*
hate us after all.

RB Jamal Lewis

I
told myself going into this draft I was going to stick with
younger players this year. I have been bitten by aging players
and their health in the past. However, Jamal Lewis looked too
good to pass up here. His carries have not dropped off much
and his yards per carry are still up around 4.4. Lewis appears
to have something left in the tank and Browns are a team on
the move. There isn’t really anybody pushing Lewis, so I
felt like it was a safe pick even with the 2000 plus carries
on his body.

Don't frown at the pick of an
expensive QB. Instead, SMILE with me.... Why would you not draft
Manning in the 2nd round? It's either get him now or complete
against him every week in this format. He is less risky and more
productive than other passer options. Manning is a superstar
fantasy player and 4,000 yards plus 30 TDs would not
surprise any of us. He is money in the bank . I know it and you
know it. -- The Colt passer as your weekly starter gives you an
advantage over almost everyone else.

Was
split between Wayne and Edge James. Recent analysis by the
Sports Grumblings supercomputer invalidates the "Stud RB

rankings. To be honest, I thought James might fall to me at 3.4

I
felt it was important to take a second RB here, but I wasn’t
locked into it. The receivers looked deep to me and I felt I
could wait although Terrell Owens tempted me. Maroney
was my choice over available RBs
primarily due to the idea that he is likely to have more scoring
opportunities. I expect the Patriot offense to be one of the
best again this season, even if not as powerful as last year.

Now
I am beginning to feel some guilt for selecting only top players
that I personally like - something a polished FF drafter should
seldom do. Regardless, Owens is a highly talented receiver,
big points producer, and has good relationship with QB Romo. Also, he
plays with pain. He has scored 28 TDs in 31 games. The always ornery
Owens gives this roster an excellent trio of true
FF stars.

RB Edgerrin James
QB: RB: Tomlinson James
WR:

Edgerrin
is the picture of consistency - nothing flashy, no highlight
reel runs, likely not many huge games. He is just a consistent
double-digit fantasy scorer every single stinkin' week. Getting
a true workhorse, every-down, 20-carries-a-week back as the
19th RB chosen is a nice thing. Despite having (by far) his
lowest career total in receptions in 200 and a terrible
YPC, he still plodded his way to the 13th overall RB in this
scoring system because he handles the ball so much. The upside
is likely limited (especially since he turns 30 as the season
starts), but this is a safe and solid pick.
