We considered
strongly taking Harrison with our second choice here in this
back-to-back; the risk is a lot more palatable as a WR#2
than as a WR#1. But with some questions in our WR crew
already, we decided to take the overall top TE on our draft
list. While he may suffer in TDs as compared to Gates, in a
PPR league he should make up a lot of ground with more catches
each week. There are also fewer other red zone options in
Dallas than in SD, thus Witten ranks atop the TE list. So we
believe that we have the top player at two positions through
five rounds of the draft, as well as three workhorse RBs.

You know who's doing
a nice job with this draft? John Georgopoulos. He took Brian
Westbrook at 1.04. Nothing out of the ordinary about that pick.
But then, instead of getting caught up in the big race for
running backs, he added two top-5 WRs with his next two
selections. Then, late in the fourth round, he grabbed the
running back (Thomas Jones) that I was hoping would slip to this
spot.
But Jones isn't here, so I'll take Matt Forte instead. It's a
little bit of a force -- I've still got wide receivers ranked
higher on my board - but I'm a little nervous about waiting any
longer to select a second running back.

My, my, how far
Harrison
has fallen in just a season. He may have even fallen further if
I hadn’t decided to take a chance on him here. I just felt
that the Colts would have taken a receiver earlier in the April
draft if they had serious concerns about
Harrison
. As my #2 receiver, I think he has enough upside to be worth
the shot here.

With
six other guys choosing between my fourth- and fifth-round
picks, I had my sights set on three receivers: Roy Williams,
Plaxico Burress and Hines Ward, in that order. The addition of
Ward gives me a WR2/1 type of
receiver playing at WR3 for me.

This
QB selection was the other side of the coin. There are weeks
where he is going to be the top passer in the league and then
there are going to be weeks that he really stinks up the joint.
Since there is no starter selection in the FAD scoring system, I
am hoping that he can provide a few stellar performances to
cover for when Brees may put up an average day.

Gonzo is another
player who is aging and may be seeing the turn of his career.
Even with that, Tony is a top 5 TE. Gonzalez caught 99 balls
last year which is really good for a player of his age. The quarterback
is a concern for the Chiefs, but when you have QB issues the
dump off to the TE can be a play that is over used. I am
thinking the Chiefs offense will be improved this year and Larry
Johnson should take some pressure off of the passing game once
again this year.

When
we looked at the players left on the board that we coveted,
Winslow stood head-and-shoulders above the
rest. Here is a TE that catches over 80 passes a year, and
last year even topped the 1,100-yard mark in receiving as well.
While not the goalline threat some TEs are, he'll still chip in
with 5-6 TDs, and his receptions and yards more than make up for
that shortfall. Toss in the Browns addition of Donte'
Stallworth, and teams will be even less able to cover Winslow
than they did last year. The only thing that can stop Winslow
from producing big numbers for us is if he should happen to
purchase another motorcycle...

There is a float position in this
league. Can be a WR, RB or TE. And to fill that position, I’m
just looking for the best player available, regardless of
position. Calvin Johnson projects to be far more valuable than
any running back or tight end, so he’s the choice. I’ve got
him as the 14th-best wide receiver on the board. I think he
should have been picked a long time ago. He might catch 80
passes and 9 TDs TDs, making him a great, great player in this
format.
With other teams focusing on stockpiling running backs, I plan
on starting four wide receivers every week. And that’s fine.
I’ve now got four of the top 14 on my board, and all four of
these guys are going to significantly outperform the vast
majority of running backs who were selected in the second, third
and fourth rounds.

I need a couple of receivers, and
once again I find myself with a cluster of four players coming
up to the turn. Bowe, Lee Evans, Santonio Holmes and
Greg Jennings. I'm going to avoid Holmes with this pick
so as not to be labeled a homer, but if he's there at 6.04,
I'll take him.
I had to do some real thinking
here to make Bowe the choice, as Larry Johnson is on my
roster. That's a lot of eggs in the basket of the
Chiefs. But I believe that I've found the guy who can
actually make Tony Gonzalez the #2 receiver on this team.
Bowe's rookie season featured 70
catches, 995 yards and 5 TDs. His upside is tremendous,
and while Brodie Croyle is hardly the second coming of Ken
Stabler, Evans managed to do well in a similar situation in
Buffalo a couple of years back. That said, Bowe isn't a
strong #2, and I'm going to have to get my WR2A with my next
pick

Three
of Henry's first four games saw him top the 125 rushing yards
plateau in 2007. Then nicks hurt his effectiveness until
he went down and missed five of the last nine weeks. He
never was as effective again though in week 13 he did score
twice on 15 carries. If Henry can return to health, he is
one of the few remaining feature backs.

We’re
very, very happy with our addition of Anderson. Derek Anderson did
well last year, and we expect him to do better this year.
The addition of Donte Stallworth can not be overstated. We
believe the Browns offense this year will be very explosive.
It’s this simple – good free agent WRs make immediate impact
(see our pick of Tom Brady last year).
Anderson
is a top 5 QB, with a chance to be top 3. Quinn is a nagging
concern, but we feel confident that Anderson is the man this
year.

I'm
pretty happy with this pick. When I made my last pair of
picks I narrowed it down to Darren McFadden, Willie Parker and
Julius Jones and after looking at some ADP data decided the one
I could gamble with was Jones. Low and behold, here
we are. In a PPR league I think Julius Jones has the
potential to really rock this year. He's a tough runner
with soft hands in a high octane offense that sorely needs
Julius Jones. Maurice Morris should slide back to his back
up position which he does well and T.J. Duckett came over from
Washington to be the goal line back though there's nothing that
says he'll be effective at it. Julius Jones
will
still get his and easily could be the player that the offense
flows through. The force is strong with this
one.
