Final Analysis

 16.01
Tony Holm
TE Zach Miller
QB: Young  Rodgers Jackson  RB: Grant Parker McFadden JJones Fargas

WR: RMoss Holmes Cotchery Berrian VJackson Gage TE: Lee Miller  PK: DT::

Miller was very involved in the Raiders offense last year with 44 receptions for 444 yards and 3 T's.  This was with a platoon of QBs throwing him the ball so it's good to know that it's more Zach Miller that is getting it done, and not a 'connection' between a QB and a player.  Miller was a rookie last year and should add some seasoning to his route running this year.  Miller is one of my sleeper TEs this season.  I expect a solid 50 receptions out of him in 2008 with upside for more if young QB JaMarcus Russell leans on the TE position as most young QBs do.

16.02

Ian Allan (via trade)
PK Nate Kaeding

QB: Cutler Garrard  RB: SJackson Forte KSmith Bradshaw
WR: AJohnson SSmith Welker CJohnson BrJohnson Wilford
TE: Davis Miller Olsen PK: Kaeding DT:

I admit that I gave up a lot in this trade. To move up 3 spots (16.05 to 16.02), I gave away three rounds (17.08 down to 20.02). But I think Kaeding might be the best kicker in the draft. Very accurate, and he plays for a good team that’s going to play an easy schedule. I felt like if I didn’t make the trade, either Pitzer or Kellogg would select him.  And trading for Kaeding gives me the options, for the next 48 hours or so, to mull whether I want to carry only one kicker in this league. I would take a 0 in his bye week, and maybe he would have one other poor game, but other than that, he should be very solid.

16.03

Greg Kellogg
WR Ted Ginn Jr.

QB: Romo Leinart ASmith  RB: Portis RBrown Henry FJones Norwood
WR:
Marshal Evans Driver DCarter Meachem Ginn TE: Scheffler McMichael PK: DT:

The bad news is we don't know what to expect from his quarterback - whomever that may be.  The good news is that Ginn had two of his best outings in the last four weeks, indicative that he is learning the game.  And that he is an entrenched starter - something that is hard to find in the 16th round of any draft.

16.04

Duane Cahill
TE Desmond Clark

QB: Brady Russell RB: LJohnson Graham Mendenhall McAllister CBrown RWilliams
WR: Boldin Bowe Jennings Bruce Stallworth RWilliams
TE: DeClark PK: DT:
Tight ends are stupid.  Period.  If you can't (or don't want to spend the high pick to) get a Gates, Witten or Winslow, then just sit back and take whatever comes your way.  While the other owners are spending 5th and 6th round picks on guys like Gonzo, Cooley and Dallas Clark, keep filling your roster with players that will actually score for you - running backs and receivers.

Greg Olson will likely take away some of Clark's numbers, and I picked Clark over Marcedes Lewis by the smallest of margins.  I think that Lewis stands a good chance of improving last season's numbers, but the Bears will make use of both tight ends.  Projections?  Let's stay with round numbers.  40-400-4.

Tight ends are stupid.

16.05
Matt Pitzer (via trade)
QB Kurt Warner

QB: Hasselbeck Roethlisberger Warner  RB: Barber Bush BJackson Dunn Slaton
WR CJohnson Holt Curtis Clayton Curry
TE: Watson  PK: DT:

He threw 27 TD passes last year, I took Warner in the 16th round and he is my third quarterback. Not much downside in all that. Sure, he might be the starter in Week 1, but Warner has played plenty over the past three years in Arizona . It easily could happen again.

16.06

Chris Dolfi | Tom Walls
RB Kolby Smith

QB: Anderson Quinn  RB: Lynch Jones-Drew Jacobs MBush FJackson KoSmith
WR: Housh Coles Hackett
TE: Winslow Heap  PK: DT: Giants:

Kolby Smith put up decent numbers when he filled in for the injured Larry Johnson in 2007, and he's the backup in Kansas City again this season.  With Johnson coming back off of his injury, there is certainly a chance he could go down again in 2008, which would give us a starting RB in the 16th round.  Even if LJ remains healthy, we expect Kolby Smith to spell Johnson more than he has in the past.  If the Chiefs continue to run LJ at the pace they have been for the past few years, it's not a case of IF he'll get injured, it's WHEN.  To alleviate the load on Johnson, that means Kolby Smith will see at least a few carries every game.  And with the Chiefs having very little offense except their running game, even a portion of the rushing attempts should add up to a
productive backup - with that outside injury chance of getting a starter late in the draft.

16.07

Shannon O'Leary
PK Neil Rackers

QB: Bulger Delhomme RB: Gore Lewis RJohnson Bell Foster
WR: Fitzgerald White Walker Porter
TE: Gonzalez  PK: Crosby Rackers  DT: Bears Steelers
I have a cold weather kicker and decided to take a warm weather kicker for the later part of the season. Also Rackers was a top fantasy kicker just a couple of years back. He has slipped a bit, but there is no reason he can’t return to his former form. The Cardinals could be a team on the rise. They quite possibly have the best receiver tandem in the game, which should provide a fair amount of opportunities for Rackers. This was somewhat of a gut pick.

16.08

Jim Butler
DT Jaguars

QB: Brees Schaub Rivers  RB: McGahee White Duckett Buckhalter
WR: Galloway Sweed DJackson Glenn Henderson
TE: Gates Cooley  PK: Graham  DT: Jaguars
Since the scoring on DTs are spotty, I decided to look for the teams that generate a decent amount of takeaways. The Jaguars were 4th (4th in AFC) in Interceptions and 21st (9th in AFC) in Fumbles recovered.

16.09

John Georgopoulos
TE Jeff King

QB: EManning Edwards  RB: Westbrook TJones DWilliams Betts CWilliams Bennett
WR: Wayne Colston Ward Branch DJackson TE: Crumpler King  PK:  DT: Ravens
Needed a back-up TE whose bye week didn't conflict with Crumpler's. King was the best of the rest-- although inconsistent, he showed flashes of promise last season.

16.10

Jerome Hickerson
PK Josh Brown

QB: Palmer Campbell  RB: Addai Maroney Taylor CJohnson Rice
WR: Edwards Harrison Gonzales RBrown Rice TE: Shockey PK: JBrown  DT: Cowboys Vikings
After covering my bases with defenses with the past two picks, it is kicker time. As a Rams fan, I saw this as my opportunity to fulfill my desire to at least have one St. Louis player on my team. I also see Brown as in a good spot. He is an established quality performer, kicking for a team indoors, and a team that might have a tendency to fall short of the goal line often enough to provide him with excellent opportunities

16.11

TC Cannon
RB Kenny Watson

QB: Manning Garcia RB: Peterson Stewart Benson Young Watson

WR: Owens Burress Chambers Engram Hardy TE: Clark  PK: Folk Gostkowski  DT: Chargers
RB Rudi Johnson still seems to have the team's support and should get the bulk of the carries, unless he really falters again. Johnson was Injured and crippled in  2007 - Watson started several games for team and was semi-impressive all year, with 1,100+ yards from scrimmage last season. He gained over 100 total yards in three of his five starts. If Johnson is even somewhat ineffective, I believe that Watson will be the Bengals' featured runner. In the meantime, 750/6 production seems realistic FF expectations.

16.12

Chris Rito | Mike Nazarek
QB Brodie Coyle

QB: McNabb Kitna Coyle RB: Tomlinson James Turner CTaylor
WR: RWilliams Mason Burleson Gaffney Walter
TE: Witten Smith PK: DT: Patriots
We felt it critical to have three QBs in a league with no roster changes - especially with a #1 (McNabb) with a history of injury. All the remaining QBs have some question about their status as starter...except Croyle. It would be easy to see the QB in MIA, CHI, ATL, BAL and NYJ get benched for poor play - but the Chiefs will sink or swim with young Croyle. He showed signs of life last year, and was doing it without the presence of Larry Johnson in the backfield. We expect improvement to the range of "adequate" play for the young boy from Alabama.
